Which work week does my shift belong to?
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Applies to: hourly workers who enter their own time in the Ascen portal and have seen a shift land in a different week than they expected. Salaried international (EOR) assignments are not timed this way, so this will not apply to them.
Summary: Your timesheet is organised into work weeks, and a shift belongs to whichever work week its date falls in. On most Ascen assignments the work week runs Sunday through Saturday — so a Sunday shift opens a new week rather than closing the one before it. That is the usual reason a shift appears "on last week’s" or "on next week’s" sheet.
Why it matters
It is not only a display question. Overtime is calculated per work week — hours over 40 in a single work week attract overtime — so which week a shift sits in can change what is owed. That is also why hours cannot simply be moved between weeks for convenience: see Hours submitted in the wrong week — why overtime can’t be waived, and how we fix it.
How to check your own week
Open Timesheets in your Ascen portal.
Look at the week start and end dates shown above the entries — that is the work week your assignment uses, and it is the authoritative answer for you.
Find your shift’s date within those dates. If your week runs Sunday to Saturday, work done on Sunday belongs to the week that is just beginning.
If you don’t see the hours at all in the period you expected, they may have been entered on your behalf into an earlier period — check previous pay periods before assuming they are missing, and see What to do if you can’t enter or submit your timesheet.
If a shift really is on the wrong date
If the hours are recorded against a date you did not work, that is a correction rather than a week-boundary question. Email timesheets@ascen.com with your name, the assignment, the date the hours are on now, and the date you actually worked. Do not re-enter them in the other week as well — that creates a duplicate that has to be unpicked.
