Where to find and view your paychecks and pay stubs
Last updated: August 21, 2026
Applies to: workers paid through the Ascen portal in the US and Canada (employees and independent contractors). If you're an international employee paid through a local employer of record outside the US and Canada, your payslips come from your in-country payroll, not this portal — see How international employees are paid — payslips and local payroll.
Your pay history lives in the Ascen portal — this article shows you where to click to see your current and past paychecks, how to open and download a pay stub (PDF), and what the pay details mean.
Where to find your paychecks
Log in to the Ascen portal at app.ascen.com.
In the left-hand menu, click Paychecks.
You'll see a list of your paychecks, most recent first. Each row shows the pay period, the check date, and your pay amounts.
This applies to both W-2 employees and independent contractors (1099) paid through the portal — the portal is the same for everyone; only the details shown on the pay stub differ by worker type.
When your pay history appears
A paycheck shows up here once payroll has been run for that period and your pay stub has been prepared. If you worked a period but don't see a paycheck yet, it usually means payroll hasn't been processed for that period, or your timesheet is still being submitted or approved. If a period you expected is missing, see Where is my paycheck? How to check your pay status before contacting support.
What each paycheck row shows
For each paycheck, you can typically see:
Gross amount — your total pay before taxes and deductions.
Net amount — the amount you actually take home after taxes and deductions.
Check date — the date the pay is issued.
Pay period — the start and end dates the pay covers.
How to view and download a pay stub (PDF)
Once payroll has run and your pay stub is ready, a Paystub button appears on that paycheck.
On the Paychecks list, find the paycheck you want.
Click the Paystub button on that row.
Your pay stub opens as a PDF in a new tab. From there you can view it, save it, or print it using your browser's download and print options.
Tip: Downloading works most reliably on a desktop or laptop web browser. On a phone, the PDF should still open, but saving it may depend on your device.
If you don't see a Paystub button yet, the pay stub for that period may not be available. Pay stubs become available after payroll has been run and finalized for that pay period.
What your pay stub shows
Your pay stub PDF breaks down a single paycheck in more detail than the list view, and generally includes:
Earnings — your hours and pay rate, or the amounts that make up this paycheck.
Taxes withheld — the taxes taken out of this paycheck (applies to W-2 / T4 employees).
Deductions — any post-tax deductions.
Benefit amounts — any benefit contributions taken from your pay, if you're enrolled.
Gross and net totals — your total pay before and after taxes and deductions.
The exact sections shown depend on your worker type and your employer's settings — for example, tax and benefit lines only appear if they apply to you.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Paychecks menu. Make sure you're logged in to the correct account at app.ascen.com. If it's still missing, email support@ascen.com.
There are no paychecks listed. You'll only see paychecks after payroll has run for a period you worked. New workers won't see pay history until their first payroll is processed.
The Paystub button isn't showing on a paycheck. The pay stub for that period may not be finalized yet. Check back after your pay date.
The PDF won't open or download. Try a desktop web browser, and check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups for app.ascen.com.
If you're still stuck, email support@ascen.com and let them know which pay period you're looking for.
