When will I get my T4 (and Relevé 1 in Quebec)?

Summary: Your T4 (Statement of Remuneration Paid) shows your employment income and the amounts withheld (income tax, CPP, EI) for the year. If you worked in Quebec, you also receive a Relevé 1 (RL-1) for your provincial return. Slips are generally issued by the end of February for the previous calendar year, and yours is delivered in your Ascen portal alongside your other documents.

What the T4 shows

  • Total employment income paid to you in the calendar year

  • Income tax withheld

  • Canada Pension Plan (CPP/QPP) contributions

  • Employment Insurance (EI) premiums

You use the T4 to file your personal income tax return.

If you worked in Quebec

Quebec runs its own provincial system, so you receive two slips: the federal T4 and the Quebec Relevé 1 (RL-1) for your provincial return.

When and where you get it

  • Slips for a calendar year are generally issued by the end of February of the following year.

  • Your slips are delivered in your Ascen portal — see Where to find your documents / your tax documents section. Depending on your delivery preferences you may also receive a mailed copy.

  • If the address on file is out of date, update it before year-end so nothing goes astray — see How to update your personal information.

If something looks wrong

If your name, SIN, or amounts look incorrect, email Ascen at support@ascen.com — corrections are issued as amended slips. (Payroll and tax-slip questions in Canada go to Ascen, not your staffing partner.)
