How do I get a copy of my employment records?
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Applies to: everyone Ascen has employed or engaged — current and former W-2 employees, independent contractors, Canadian T4 employees, and workers employed outside the US and Canada. If you work outside the US and Canada, your local employment records are held by your in-country HR contact, so ask them first.
Summary: A lot of what you signed is already downloadable from your Ascen portal. For anything else — a full copy of your records, or a detail you can no longer see, such as who you listed as an emergency contact — email support@ascen.com and we will send it to you through a secure link. Formal privacy requests are handled separately.
First, check what you can download yourself
You may not need to ask us at all:
Signed agreements, onboarding documents and year-end tax forms — see Where to find your documents.
Paychecks and pay stubs — see Where to find and view your paychecks and pay stubs.
Your own contact details — see How to update your personal information (address, name, phone, email).
These stay available after an assignment ends, so a former worker can still log in and download them.
Asking us for a copy of your records
Email support@ascen.com from the address on your account and tell us what you need. It helps to say which records you want — for example your employment and assignment history, your offer and onboarding documentation, separation documentation, or a specific detail such as the emergency contact on your record.
Because these documents contain personal information, we don't send them as ordinary email attachments. We send a secure link to the email address we have on file for you, and you download the records from there. If the email address on your account is out of date, tell us in your message — we may need to verify your identity before we can release anything.
A note on personnel-file rights
Some states give employees the right to inspect or receive a copy of their personnel file, and a few set a timeframe for responding. What is included and how quickly it must be provided varies by your work location, so the exact rule depends on the state (or province) where you worked.
If it's a formal privacy request
Requests to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal data under CCPA/CPRA or a similar privacy law go through a separate intake, not through support. See Privacy Requests for what to include and where to send it.
