When will I receive payment for my completed shifts?
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Applies to: All Contractors (Employees and Independent Contractors) in the US and Canada.
After completing a shift and having your hours approved, a couple of key factors determine when you'll receive your payment.
Complete Your Onboarding First
Payments cannot be processed until your contractor onboarding is fully completed in your Ascen account. If you've completed a shift but haven't received payment, this is the first thing to check.
To verify your onboarding status:
Log in to your Ascen account.
Review your onboarding checklist and ensure all required steps have been completed.
If any steps are incomplete, finish them as soon as possible so your payment can be processed.
Payment Timing
Once your shift has been processed for payment, you can expect to receive your funds according to your payment frequency. This depends on the type of Contractor you (Employee or Independent Contractor) and the payment frequency set up by your staffing Partner. For most employees in the US and Canada, payroll is weekly. You thus receive funds one week after your workweek, usually on Thursday or Friday, depending on the Partner's settings. For independent contractors globally, payment timing depends on your payroll frequency and net terms. If you are unsure of your payment terms, ask us, and we'll let you know.
For some US-based employees, we run "daily pay". Your staffing Partner will let you know if you are on daily pay. With daily pay, you receive funds at the end of the same business day as your shift. However, if the time was approved after the afternoon deadline or your shift was on a weekend, you may receive funds the next business day. If you have completed all onboarding steps and your shift has been approved, but you still haven't received payment by the next business day, please reach out to support for more help. If it still hasn't been a full business day, please wait, as the approval process for your Partner or Client may be delayed. Be sure to check to see if your time is approved in the Ascen platform or if you have a pending paycheck in the Ascen platform.
Tip: If your pay stub shows "processing," it means your payment has not yet been fully processed. Check that your Ascen onboarding is complete, as incomplete onboarding is the most common reason for delayed payments.
