When do I receive my paycheck?

Applies to: All workers paid through Ascen. The answer forks by how you are engaged, so read the section that matches you: US and Canadian employees (W-2 / T4), independent contractors, or employees working outside the US and Canada.

Summary: When you're paid depends on how you're engaged. Most US and Canada employees are paid weekly, every Friday, for the previous week's approved work. Independent contractors are paid on their own pay frequency / net terms, and international employees are paid on their local, in-country schedule.

US and Canada employees (W-2 / T4)

By default you're paid weekly, with pay issued each Friday for the previous week's approved time. If a bank holiday falls on a Friday, pay is issued the Thursday before. This weekly-Friday default is the same in the US and Canada.

Your exact schedule is set on your assignment and can differ — some assignments are biweekly or monthly rather than weekly. If you're not sure, check a previous paycheck's check date as a reference, or see When and how often will I get paid?

Independent contractors (1099 and international ICs)

If you're an independent contractor, you're not on a fixed weekly payroll — you're paid according to your pay frequency and net terms (for example, a set number of days after your invoice/approved work). See How independent contractors are paid (net terms) for how the timing works.

International employees (outside the US and Canada)

If you're employed through a local employer of record outside the US and Canada, your pay runs on your country's local payroll schedule, which varies by country and is often monthly.
