You cannot get into your Ascen account or it shows as inactive: what to check

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Applies to: workers who cannot sign in at app.ascen.com, or who can sign in but see their account described as inactive, pending, or not yet approved.

Summary: Most of these turn out to be one of four things: a sign-in problem, an account still waiting on approval, an assignment that has ended, or a block in the separate gig or scheduling app your shifts come from. Work through them in that order before contacting anyone, because the first two you can often fix yourself.

1. Start with sign-in itself

If the password is rejected or the reset email never arrives, work through How to log in, reset your password, and set up two-factor authentication. Reset emails land in spam more often than anywhere else.

2. Check whether the email is the problem

If the address you are typing is not the one on your account, or you have started onboarding twice under two different addresses, sign-in fails in a way that looks like a locked account. This is common and it is fixable. See I cannot sign in because the email on my account is wrong or was changed. Your name, email, and phone are changed through your staffing partner rather than from your own account, so they are who to ask.

3. Your account may still be awaiting approval

A message telling you to refrain from working until your account is approved is not a suspension and is not a screening result. It means the verification of your profile is still open, and in most cases there is nothing for you to send. See Why your portal says to refrain from working until your account is approved.

4. Your assignment may have ended

When an assignment ends, what you can do in the portal changes even though your records stay available. Your documents and pay stubs remain there to view and download. See Where to find your documents and What a Notice of Separation means.

5. If your shifts come from a gig or scheduling app

If you pick up shifts in a separate app and Ascen pays you for them, those are two different accounts. A block, suspension, or verification hold in that app is managed by that app and cannot be lifted by Ascen, and it is a frequent reason people find themselves unable to accept shifts while their Ascen account is perfectly healthy. If you get your shifts through a gig or scheduling app: how your hours reach Ascen explains how the two connect.

If none of these fit

Email support@ascen.com from the address you believe is on the account, and tell us what you see on screen, word for word, plus your full name and who placed you. The exact wording is what tells us which of the situations above you are in.
