Understanding Your Benefits: Insurance Cards, Member IDs, and Plan Information
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Applies To:
US W-2 Employees enrolled in Ascen Workforce benefits plans.
Summary:
This article addresses common questions about accessing benefits information, receiving insurance cards, understanding member IDs, and knowing who to contact for plan-specific questions after enrolling in Ascen Workforce benefits.
Overview:
When does coverage begin?
In general, benefits begin after a 30-day waiting period from your hire date, as long as you are actively at work. Weekly coverages start the Sunday after you reach 30 days; monthly coverages start on the 1st of the following month. To confirm your exact coverage start date, please log into the UnitedHealthcare FlexWork portal.
Will I receive a physical insurance card?
Physical benefits cards will be mailed to you and delivery may take up to 14 days after your benefits become active. While you wait for your physical card, you may download an electronic version of your temporary benefits card on the UnitedHealthcare FlexWork portal OR it can be sent to you via Dropbox — please contact Ascen HR support to request one. The document will be password protected; the password consists of the last four digits of your SSN followed by your date of birth (e.g., 123405141988).
Please note that benefits cards are not issued for Dental or Vision plans. Your dental and/or Vision provider can verify your coverage using your Social Security Number.
How do I access my benefits information and member ID online?
You can register and manage your benefits through the UnitedHealthcare FlexWork portal. To register, you will need your UHC Member ID and Group Number. The Group Number for Ascen Workforce, LLC is 7800000152 (if you have a MEC Medical Plan) or 7800000153 (if you have the Edge Advantage MVP Medical Plan). If you are having trouble registering or your record is not found, contact UHC directly using the information below.
Your benefit elections are managed by Ascen, not by UnitedHealthcare. You make your initial elections in the Ascen portal during onboarding; to change them during Open Enrollment or after a Qualifying Life Event, email support@ascen.com.
If your record is not found when you try to register with UnitedHealthcare, or you cannot sign in, call UnitedHealthcare at 1-855-892-2401. If you simply do not have your Member ID yet, email support@ascen.com and we will look it up for you.
