How do I add time sheets?

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Summary: Enter your hours from the Time Sheets area: click Enter Time, select the assignment the time is for, then fill in the type, date, start/end times, and break, plus any extra fields your assignment requires (like a project code or task notes). Submit, and your time goes to your client or agency to approve.

Steps

  1. In the left-hand menu, open Time Sheets.

  2. Click Enter Time (upper-right corner).

  3. Select the assignment. This is required — you'll see "You cannot track time yet since you have not selected your assignment." until you do. If you have more than one assignment, make sure you pick the correct one, so your hours are paid and billed to the right place.

  4. Choose the Type of time — for example Work, Sick, PTO, Holiday, or On-call. The options you see depend on your assignment.

  5. Enter the Date, your Time Start and Time End, and confirm the Timezone.

  6. Enter your break:
    - Most assignments have a single Break Time Minutes field (unpaid break) — leave it 0 if you didn't take one.
    - Some assignments (in states with detailed break rules) instead ask you to log each break separately with its own start and end time. Add a break for each one.
    - Break fields don't appear for Sick or PTO entries.

  7. Complete any additional fields your assignment requires (these only show when configured):
    - Project Code — if your assignment requires it, you must pick one before you can submit (you may be able to create a new one).
    - Task Notes — a short description of what you worked on.

  8. Click Submit.

Add an entry for each shift or day you worked.

What happens next

Once submitted, your timesheet goes to your client or agency to approve (some assignments also ask you to sign/attest to it first). Approved time is what flows into payroll, so submit by the weekly deadline. You can edit or delete an entry while it's still awaiting approval; after it's approved, contact your agency to make a change.

If you work at more than one assignment or location

Enter time per assignment — select the right one each time (step 3). If you split a single day across two assignments, add a separate entry for each.

If you don't see the option to enter time

On some accounts, your partner agency or client enters time on your behalf — if there's no Enter Time option, that's why, and you don't need to do anything. If you think you should be able to enter time but can't, see Why can't I submit my timesheet yet? or email support@ascen.com.
