When and how often will I get paid?

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Applies to: All workers — employees in the US and Canada, employees working outside the US and Canada, and independent contractors.

Your pay schedule is set on your assignment — here is how to find it and what to expect each pay period.

How pay frequency is set

Your pay frequency and payday are set on your assignment, not by you, and they stay the same for the duration of your assignment unless a change is made. What's typical depends on how and where you work:

Employees in the US and Canada — most are paid weekly, though some assignments use a biweekly or monthly schedule.

US W-2 employees on daily pay — some US assignments are set up for daily pay, where payroll is processed each business day instead of once a week. Your pay period is still weekly; only the payout timing changes. Your staffing partner enables this, and will tell you if your assignment uses it. See How daily pay works (US W-2 employees).

Employees working outside the US and Canada — pay is generally monthly, following the standard payroll cycle in your country.

Independent contractors — paid weekly or monthly on the net terms set on your assignment (e.g. net-15 or net-30 from the period end), as agreed in the contractor agreement you signed. See How independent contractors are paid (net terms).

How to find your pay schedule in the portal

1.

Log in to your portal at app.ascen.com.
2.

Go to Paychecks from the main menu.
3.

Your most recent paycheck and its pay date are shown at the top of the list. The pattern of dates across past paychecks tells you your frequency.

If you are new and have not received a paycheck yet, check with Ascen at support@ascen.com to confirm your payday.

Why there is a gap between your work period and your deposit

You will not receive pay the same day your work period ends. After a pay period closes:
1. Your timesheet must be approved (by your client or agency, depending on your setup).
2. Your employer then processes payroll for that period.
3. The deposit is sent and posts to your bank account on the scheduled payday.

This gap — sometimes called net terms — is normal and is set by your employer. For employees it typically ranges from a few days to about a week after the pay period ends; independent contractors are paid on the net terms set on their assignment (e.g. net-15 or net-30). See How independent contractors are paid (net terms).

What to do if you are unsure about your schedule

If you cannot find your pay schedule in the portal, or your expected payday has passed and no deposit has arrived:
- Check that your timesheet was submitted and approved for the period in question.
- Confirm your bank account details are correct in the Direct Deposit section of your portal.
- Contact Ascen at support@ascen.com.
