What is the difference between a Contractor and an Assignment?

A contractor is an individual person or entity doing the underlying work for a client and an assignment is a specific job they are working on for a specific client. A contractor can have multiple assignments with different clients. For instance, Sally is a contractor, but she can have an assignment at McDonalds and one assignment at Burger King. In this case, Sally is one contractor but she’s working on two separate assignments.
