My Authorized Representative never received the email. What should I do?
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Applies to: US employees (W-2).
Summary: If your authorized representative didn't get the Section 2 email, check their spam folder and the address you entered. You can correct the address or resend the link yourself in the app, and email support@ascen.com if that does not work.
If the email with the Section 2 instructions hasn't arrived, work through these:
Check spam/junk. Ask your representative to look in their spam or junk folder in case it was filtered.
Confirm the email address. Make sure the email you entered for them is spelled correctly — a small typo means it went nowhere.
Check whether it has gone out yet. Your representative is normally emailed once Ascen has approved your Section 1. If your Section 1 is still being reviewed, the email may simply not have been sent yet.
Fix or resend it yourself. Log in at app.ascen.com and open the Form I9 Authorized Representative step. If the address was wrong, correct it and click Save (it reads Save and Resend once your Section 1 is approved). If the address was right, click Resend Their Link. You can do either until Section 2 has been completed. See How do I change my I-9 Authorized Representative?.
Still nothing? Email support@ascen.com and we will look into it.
Official reference: Form I-9 (USCIS).
