If you get your shifts through a gig or scheduling app: how your hours reach Ascen

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Applies to: workers whose shifts are booked and clocked in a staffing Partner’s gig or scheduling app rather than entered directly in Ascen. If you type your own hours into the Ascen portal, this doesn’t apply to you.

Summary: When your shifts live in a gig or scheduling app, Ascen doesn’t see your clock-in and clock-out — we receive the hours the app sends us after the business approves them, and we pay those. If the hours are wrong or missing, the fix has to happen in the app first.

How it works

  1. You work the shift and clock in and out in your Partner’s app.

  2. The business you worked for reviews and approves those hours in the app.

  3. The app sends the approved hours to Ascen automatically.

  4. Ascen pays them. Approved hours show up under Timesheets in your Ascen portal, and the resulting payment under Paychecks.

The important consequence: Ascen can only pay hours the app has actually sent us. We can’t add hours you worked but that never came through, because we have no record of the shift.

My hours are wrong or short

This is the most common problem — for example a full shift showing as a few hours, or a shift missing entirely.

  1. Raise it in the app, with the business. Most gig apps have a dispute or correction option on the shift. The business that booked you has to confirm the corrected time.

  2. Once they approve the correction, it flows to Ascen automatically. You don’t need to send it to us separately.

  3. Then check your Ascen portal. Corrected hours appear under Timesheets, and payment follows on the normal schedule. See When do I receive my paycheck?.

You can also let us know at support@ascen.com that a correction is in progress — we can check whether the revised hours have reached us. But we can’t approve or change the hours on our side, because the approval belongs to the business.

My shift isn’t showing in Ascen at all

That almost always means the hours haven’t been approved in the app yet. Check the shift’s status there first, and ask the business to approve it. Nothing can be paid until it reaches us.

Who to contact

  • Your staffing Partner (the gig app): shift scheduling, clock-in and clock-out corrections, disputed hours, cancelled shifts, and getting hours approved and sent to Ascen.

  • Ascen — support@ascen.com: pay questions once hours have reached us, pay stubs, tax forms, direct deposit, and account or login problems.
